Selection Process:

the slected candiadtes needs to undergos more slection process which are divided into two phase.
(i) Preliminary Selection Boards (PSB), It consists of General Mental Ability Test in which the candidates will be tested for General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning.
(ii) Final Selection Board (FSB), It consists of Psychological Test, Group Testing and Interview (Personality Test).

In PSB, they will check you regarding the following:
1) Verbal Reasoning
2) Non Verbal Reasoning
3) PPDT (Picture Perception & Detection Test)

NOTE: You are allowed to appear for the Non verbal only if you clear Verbal reasoning test, Similarly, if u clear Non Verbal, then only u r eligible for PPDT.
This is unlike as that of in SSBs.

These consists of the PSB.

If you clear this, then u r eligible for FSB.
FSB is similar to SSB with a few differences in it.
These are: 1) No Individual obstacles
2) No HGT: half group tasks
3) No snakerace
4) No CT: command task
5) SRTs: situation reaction test consists of 50 questions here (in SSB, there are 30 SRTs)

Rest is similar to SSBs..

PRE SELECTION

MAT (Mental Ability test): MAT in Assistant Commandants exam consists of General Awareness & Test of Reasoning (Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning).

PP&DT (Picture Perception & Discussion Test): In this test, a picture is shown to the candidates for a very brief period of time – say for only 30 seconds. You than have to write a story in about 4 minutes, based on what is your perception about the picture. Next, there will be a Group Discussion, in which each member of the group describes his story about the picture and try to arrive at a common story for the group.

Above two tests are in the Preliminary selection stage. You have to qualify in MAT and only than you can appear for PP&DT. And only if you can clear both of them, you would be called for final selection

Final selection stage, which consists of following tests:

Psychologist test: This consists of TAT, WAT, SRT & SD as described below.

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT): Also called as Picture Story writing. Similar to PP & DT, but here there is no discussion. Also, you will be shown about 12 slides, each only for about 30 seconds. You have to write a story on the picture being shown.

Word Association Test (WAT): Similar to TAT, about 60 words are shown in quick succession, each word lasting for only 15 seconds. You have to write the first thought which comes to your mind on seeing the word – it may be a sentence or a phrase.

Situation Reaction Test (SRT): Here some situational cases are given and you have to write what is your reaction in those situations – say you had gone on tour and have lost your purse – what would you do?

Self Description Test (SD): You have to describe yourself in a passage.

Interview

and Group Discussion
